The location.

The hotel is way overpriced. It was supposed to be a Junior suite for 4 people but it was a very squeezed space indeed. The bathroom beautiful and spacious had a strong odor of mildew. There was never a front desk person.

The location is perfect, and we had lovely views from our room. The room was huge and spacious with a beautiful bathroom. Breakfast was fantastic, with a very generous range of fruit, hams, cheese, pastries and cakes. Paola was lovely, very welcoming and helpful.

Paula was very frindly and helpful. The house was well furnished and comforatble and the breakfast home cooked and excellent. In process of refurbishment

It you plan to visit Napoli and its surrounding area my best advice would be to make Sorrento your hub for your stay, from where you can have easy access, on a daily basis, to places like Pompei, Napoli, Positano, Amalfi, Ravello and Capri Island all of which are definitely worth seeing. We stayed in Palazzo Marziale for three nights and visited Pompei and Napoli on the same day, and then Positano the next day. Then we spent half day in Capri and then went to Amalfi where we spent two more nights. Now, I can safely say that we could have stayed in Sorrento for five nights and still visit all of these places and see enough of them. Palazzo Marziale is in the historic part of the beautiful city of Sorrento. Just steps away from a terrace where you have a wondeful view of the coast. Paula was a wonderful host from the first moment we stepped into the hotel and she took care of everything, including checking the departure times of ferries to Capri Island or trains to Pompei and Napoli. The building is very nicely decorated. The room was warm and quiet even when it was 8 degrees Celcious and raining outside in mid January. Breakfast was elegantly served with a wide array of paistres, cheeses, eggs, fruits and juices etc. If we were to go to Sorrento, Palazzo Marziale would be our first choice.

Palazzo Marziale is perfectly located between the beach (50 steps) and shopping on a street with little auto/moped traffic. We appreciated the quiet location, lovely setting, beautiful interior spaces and especially the warm, helpful, and attentive service. Breakfast on the upstairs patio was especially delightful.

Good location, the hotel design is nice, big rooms... The breakfast is wonderful even the hotel occupation was low (low seasson), variety of products, everything fresh...

Sorrento area traffic jams and parking problems, but these are not the problems of this specific hotel...

The very fine attention to detail, the warmth of the welcome, the stylish but relaxed feel of palazzo marziale . Paola is attentive and sensitive to the needs of her guests.

The location was magnificent, rooms were first class, breakfast was great!!

As Australians the lack of English speaking people - definitely not a big deal.

Fantastic building in a marvellous location. Good breakfasts, lovely rooms, nice staff...no complaints. It's setup allowed for an indepedent, relaxing stay, almost like an apartment stay really.

The hotel was a former palace and was very unique. Had a great feel. Great central location!

The beds were very uncomfortable, especially the bed sheets. The sheets were rough like sand paper, which made sleeping very difficult.

Palazzo Marziale is a lovely old building in the centre of Sorrento opposite the Church of San Francesco. Our room was big with a comfortable bed and a large marble bathroom. We were there on Good Friday and watched the Easter processions at 3.00am and 9.00pm from our balcony overlooking the square. Continental breakfast - good choice but no cooked option. It is a short stroll to a wide variety of restaurants and shops and transport links are good. It is a 10 minute walk to the station for trains to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Vesuvius and buses to Amalfi. The Marina Piccolo is a 10 minute walk downhill for boats to Capri, Amalfi and Naples.

On the downside some of the bathroom fittings are a bit 'tired'. Also there is no reception and the staff are friendly but do not speak English. However there are phone numbers to enable you to contact someone in the event of an emergency and the tourist office is about 200 metres away where English speaking staff can give you information about the area and bus, boat and train timetables.

Excellent location, beautiful rooms and common area, and a great breakfast.
